BNP leader injured in stabbing incident in Netrakona

The opponent has been accused of stabbing and injuring Rokon Uddin Bhuiyan, the general secretary of Sandikona Union BNP in Kendua Upazila of Netrokona. The incident took place in front of the mosque in Dauki village around 7 pm on Sunday.

The injured Rokon Uddin Bhuiyan is the son of Alal Uddin of that village. According to locals, police and party sources, Rokon Uddin was heading towards Sandikona Bazar on an easy bike yesterday evening. When he reached the mosque in Dauki village, Masud Mia, Rakib Uddin and others led by Taizzat Ali, son of Ala Box, ambushed Rokon Uddin with sharp weapons. They stabbed and injured Rokon Uddin in various parts of his body.

When local people rushed to the spot, the attackers fled. Later, Rokon Uddin was rescued and taken to Kendua Upazila Health Complex. After receiving primary treatment there, he was sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.

A relative of Rokon Uddin said that a few days ago, Rakib Uddin had a petty argument with Rokon Uddin’s nephew Sajeeb Mia. Later, the local people settled the matter. He believes that this was the reason for the attack.

A resident of Dauki village said that when the news of the attack on Rokon Uddin spread, tension spread between his relatives and local BNP leaders and activists. They prepared to attack Taizzat Ali’s house. At that time, District BNP Member Secretary Rafiqul Islam and Kendua Upazila BNP former General Secretary and former Upazila Chairman Delwar Hossain Bhuiyan spoke to the aggrieved people on mobile phones and assured them of taking legal action.
Although attempts were made to contact Taizzat Ali and Rakib Uddin, their mobile phones were found switched off.
